New York Governor Kathy Hochul told the media that there was no evidence that the accident occurred on the US side of the Rainbow Bridge

Hochul said a vehicle sped toward a border crossing on the American side, hit the booth, exploded and went flying into the air.

Hochul said the investigation will take some time. There is no license plate because most of the vehicle has been destroyed and the debris is scattered over 13 booths.

According to Hochul, the Rainbow Bridge was closed in view of the incident.
